Sweden’s National Land Survey selects Septentrio’s PolaRx5

Leuven, Belgium – 19 November 2018 – The National Land Survey (or “Lantmäteriet”) of Sweden awarded Septentrio a tender to supply its geodetic-quality PolaRx5 reference receivers. The PolaRx5 will be installed as an upgrade of a significant part of the National Land Survey’s permanent reference station network ‘SWEPOS’ that today consists of more than 400 CORS. Lantmäteriet’s CORS (continuously operating reference station) network, where the first batch of PolaRx5 multi-frequency GNSS receivers will be installed, provides the fundamental infrastructure for Sweden’s RTK correction capability.  A wide range of customers rely on SWEPOS to provide centimetre-level accuracy for their positioning data, across born urban and rural areas of the country.

The PolaRx5 reference stations bring full multi-frequency and multi-constellation (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, IRNSS L5 and QZSS) as well as interference mitigation and monitoring to the SWEPOS network. Peter Wiklund, SWEPOS Network Manager says “The plan is to have all necessary upgrades ready in the first half of 2019. Expected benefits for our users, and for those of our partners who provide RTK services using SWEPOS, are improved acquisition times, accuracy, and availability in difficult environments such as urban canyons and forest areas.”

“The PolaRx5 was one of very few receivers to meet our requirements. We find Septentrio to be a serious company within the GNSS industry and one that we can rely on when it comes to quality and support,” Wiklund adds.
