Leuven, Belgium – 11 May 2018 – GNSS receiver manufacturer Septentrio is participating with a total of 16 riders in the 1000 km cycling event, promoting the Flemish Cancer Foundation “Kom Op Tegen Kanker”. Each team of 8 riders is required to gather 5000 euro in donations to allow entry to the event. All donations go into cancer treatment research. Funding from the foundation is invested in biomedical research on innovative cancer treatment programmes as well as in psychosocial research to improve the wellbeing and life quality of (ex)-patients.

Together with several thousand other enthusiastic cyclists, our 2 Septentrio teams contribute to the overall raised sum exceeding several million euros.

“Contributing to the very important event of “Kom Op Tegen Kanker” with 2 teams was one goal, finding common ground within the teams to gather the donations was another. We asked our staff to support the cause and think of fund raising activities. In the end 12 different activities were organised in the last few months. From fun activities such as sporting together, to colleagues performing in a benefit concert, but also selling special bow ties, waffles, goat cheese, wine, beer and sweets made us collect more than we initially had anticipated for. We raised a total of 14.537€ for Kom Op Tegen Kanker” say Frank Boon and Kristof Dewilde, the cycling team captains to support the event.
