The Aconcagua project 2005
'The mission of the 'Aconcagua project' was to accurately determine the ellipsoidal height of the Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the western hemisphere. Next to that another goal was to connect the highest point of continental America to the Observatory TIGO in Concepcion (Chile), which is the only fundamental station in South America and a great contribution to the world reference frame. The coordinates of the mountain's peak will be determined in the ITRF 2000 (International Terrestrial Reference Frame).
Septentrio has supported this project by providing two recievers of the latest generation. The PolaRx2 receivers have been used for the measurements in February 2005.
